It's interesting to note the inclusion of Les Zarjaz on these albums and some little known background to the tracks.
First of all, when they were released, reviewers said they were the weirdest releases on Creation and also "the biggest single ever".
Shortly after their release, Les Zarjaz fell out with Alan McGee, for reasons unknown to the band and he has been slagging them off ever since, trying to defame them as much as possible.
After asking the band to be on Creation, Alan McGee abused the group, failed to fulfill recording agreements, didn't promote the release and then claimed the release suffered poor sales, as if it was the bands fault and then went on to re issue the records without the bands authorization and then sell the tracks to Sony. The NME announced that Creation had "dropped" Les Zarjaz, no doubt in order to defame the band but the truth is Les Zarjaz where never signed to Creation and had only agreed to release one pressing of one single. At the same time Alan McGee was claiming that he was helping young musicians. Les Zarjaz later commented that it was help they could have done without.
Following this, Alan McGee and former Creation head Joe Foster fell out and split. Joe Foster then wen to on to release more Zarjaz tracks on his label Kaleidoscope Sound. Following this, as if disgruntled by The Zarjaz releasing something with Joe Foster, McGee began to step up his attacks on Les Zarjaz, claiming they were a pile of crap.
Since Les Zarjaz are one band that challenges the myth that Alan McGee was "doing it for the kids" and no one complained, no one got ripped off, it's no wonder the Creation myth trolls slag Les Zarjaz off at every opportunity.
Obviously these tracks may not be understandable or even likable to everyone but definitely not as bad as McGee and the Creation myth trolls would have it known. After all, their reputations are at stake here. Since the Zarjaz have been successful in their own ways, even Oasis copied the Zarjaz style on an MTV Unplugged session, continuing to slag The Zarjaz off is likely to backfire and expose Alan McGee as not being so credible.
I think it's sad that Creation fans seem to be continually conned into paying good money for Creation marketing propaganda and promotion pamphlets in the guise of books and films.
if you don't mind, could re-up the 5 soup volumes? Thanks a lot
