Secession bootie...
Secession was a Scottish synth pop band that existed between 1983 and 1987. Secession consisted of Peter J. Thomson, Carole L. Branston, Charlie D. Kelly, and J.L. Seenan. Their singer, Peter J. Thompson, died in the late 1990s.Secession was mainly on two different labels during their short career: Beggars Banquet and Siren Records. Thanks for posting these Seccesion rarities up.......the cover from The 12" Collection is a mock up from the 12" of Fire Island......my partner was actually friends with a couple of the band members (we both hail from Glasgow)......so I can offer you a couple of salacious tidbits....Pete Thompson (who was actually known on the Glasgow music scene as "Pete The Facist") used to beat his girlfriend up & was a horrendous homophobe and racist....he actually took his own life by hanging himself in a London hotel room and put through an early morning call so that his wife would discover the body.....Charlie Kelly's brother is Eugene Kelly from another Glasgow band The Pastels.....

I have been looking for "Fire Island" for years! I lost all of my 12" singles in a fire, and this was one of my most precious.
thanks for the info on Peter adn Seccession. I've liked the band and have every 12" and the Full LP, except for one. Did any of the band members continue on to other bands. They were awesome.

That will be the same Homophobic Pete who wrote a song called Boystown, had a single called Fire Island and was often in Bennets..... I'm not going to deny His views were to the right but Im sure a later line up in the band included a "gay" and an Asian member. Your cowardly comment is a fucking disgrace. Sounds like you have an axe to grind. RIP Pete, You were a flawed genius.
